Sepulveda Vista Point

A small hilltop neighbourhood park in the Turtle Ridge area; the city notes neighbourhood parks "usually do not have public facilities or staff present." The Irvine Standard describes views stretching to "the ocean to Catalina Island, up the coast to Palos Verdes" and across "the entire city of Irvine to the San Gabriel Mountains."

Bommer Canyon

About 4,000 acres of protected open space the Irvine Company sold to the city in 1981-82, with ancient oak and sycamore groves, rock outcrops and coastal sage scrub. Specific trails are open daily for self-guided hiking dawn to dusk while other areas can only be reached on guided activities or monthly Wilderness Access Days; dogs are not allowed.

Cattle Camp

The 15-acre camp inside Bommer Canyon was the operational centre of the Irvine Company's cattle ranching from the late 1800s until the late 1970s, its barn-red buildings restored under a sycamore canopy. The city says it is open to walk-in visitors only on Open Access Days, the third weekend of each month, Friday to Sunday 9am to 4pm, with no drop-in parking otherwise.

Quail Hill Loop

Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks calls it "an easy two-mile natural surface trail" at the foot of Quail Hill, open dawn to dusk with self-guided access from a 2.8-acre trailhead at the end of Sand Canyon Road. It is the only wilderness trail in the Natural Landmarks that allows leashed dogs, and a free self-guided audio tour runs by phone.

Irvine Ranch Historic Park

A 16.5-acre OC Parks site that "retains 24 original ranch structures," including Foreman's Row employee housing and the former agricultural headquarters, with 1876-1947 set as the prime historic period for restoration. Open 7am to 8pm Monday to Thursday and 7am to 5pm Friday to Sunday, with picnic areas and restrooms.
